The Great Northern Railway Historical Society is happy to introduce it’s new and improved website. The new website has a fresh modern design and features integration with the most popular social media, like facebook, twitter and YouTube.
The website is fully responsive, changing layout automatically to fit computer screens, tablets and smartphones allowing for the best experience on each type of device.
The new website features a news section which allows for easy sharing of the latest GN and GNRHS news as well as easy access by different authors.
The main menu is not only a menu but also a summary of all that is the GNRHS.
The website features all well known departments but many new items will be added soon.
As the old website is quite large it will take a bit of time to convert all pages to the new website format.

Mike Valentine: Hello G.N.H.S., I thoughly enjoy your website and articles you have put forth. My family moved to Scenic WA. In 1929 and my father and uncle both worked for the GN before going off to war. The GNRY gave my father a 9mm German luger pistol to guard the 8 mile tunnel after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He was only 19 years old at the time and had the responsibility of marching through the tunnel at night to keep an eye out for enemy sabotage.I remember him distinctly telling me used to carry a gunney sack to pickup dismembered hobos that would occasionally be found inside from falling under the wheels. Both my father and uncle were both Army combat veterans that survived the war, my father was in the Pacific, he fought in the island campaigns and my uncle was in Europe in the 10th Mountain Division, Purple heart, Bronze Star reciepcient, we buried him last year at 105. Thier names are on the Sky Valley WWII service board in the GN museum at Skykomish along with thier cousin who was a fighter pilot in the Pacific that was KIA protecting a fellow pilot parachuting from his disabled plane. They were without any doubt the greatest generation. Your website is very professional looking, and your briefs on different GN subject matters are thoroughly researched and well presented. MV.
