2003 Havre

The 2003 GNRHS convention was held July 20-23 in Havre, Montana at several area hotels and Montana State University - Northern, Student Center.  For additional day-by-day photos and accompanying text, click the buttons to the left.  The agenda was as follows:

Sunday, July 20

0900 - 1600 - Board of Directors' meeting

1300 - 1800 - Registration

1400 - 1800 - Rail Fair Set-up

1800 - 2100 - Rail Fair, Models, Displays, Casey Adams Photo Contests

Monday, July 21

0830 - 11:00 - Rail Fair

1100 - 1300 - Lunch on your own - Student Center cafeteria open, $3.00 lunch; Shuttle buses to motels.

1300 - 1400 - GN Havre History and Operations by Father Dale Peterka

1400 - 1500 - GN Hotel Operations in Glacier Park by Ray Djuff

1500 - 1600 - Winold Reiss by Scott Tanner

1600 - 1700 - The New Cascade Tunnel:  Should it have been built?  By Mike Power

1700 - 1900 - Dinner on your own; Shuttle buses to motels, and Student Center cafeteria open, $6.25 dinner.  1815 and 1845 buses back.

1900 - 2000 - Business Meeting

2000 - 2100 - Vintage GN films, including some shot by Tony DeRosa.  Buses to motels after films.

Tuesday, July 22

1100 - 1700 - Buses pick up at motels for lunch, “Pitchfork Fondue” Fort Assiniboine and museum at GN station at Big Sandy.

1900 - 2100 - Rocky's Rails; buses pickup at 1800 and 1830.

Wednesday, July 23

0740 - 1700 - Buses pick up for diesel shop, 2584, lunch, Underground Havre, and RR museum.

1730 - 1830 - Social Hour

1830 - 2130 - Banquet at the Duck Inn;  bus from Town House at 17:15 and 17:45.
